Not to be confused with a similar restaurant a few freeway exits closer to the city, or a children’s play centre of the same name, The Beach House at Jindalee, perched on the edge of Eden Beach, offers panoramic views and a modern Australian menu bursting with Asian inspiration.
Opt for the scallop and prawn dumplings, a riff on the yum cha favourite siu mai, and they’re served swimming in a rich bisque and topped with flash-fried school prawns.
There’s familiarity in the offer of three different steaks – sirloin, rib-eye, tomahawk – but the bulk of the menu at this breezy surprise package challenges diners to be a little more adventurous. Pick the trio of beef tartare tacos topped with fried curry leaves and pearls of soy for a fresh burst of flavour on the palate.
