If a stint leading the kitchen alongside Liam Atkinson at Bar Rogue at just 23 proved anything about Sofika Boulton, it was that WA had some serious new talent on their hands. A year later, and Boulton, previously at Wildflower, is running the show at Sonny’s in Mount Hawthorn. A former engineering student, Boulton’s plates are finely tuned, whether they’re housemade pickles, skewers of cuttlefish grilled over coals or glazed pork jowl with finger lime honey. One to watch, as well as to celebrate right here, right now.
