Perth & Surrounds

QT Perth

Everything feels a little bit rock and roll, a little bit glamour at the West Coast’s only QT Hotel.

Everything feels a little bit rock ‘n’ roll, a little bit glamorous, at the West Coast’s only QT Hotel. You’ll get glimpses of fashion-forward cool as soon as you enter the lobby: artworks such as floating mirrors and canvases casually propped onto easels burst with colour, and it carries on everywhere as you glide over the hotel’s jarrah floors. In your room, your bedhead could be flecked with flocks of black cockatoos, a symbol of the West, while meeting rooms speak to WA’s mining heart; check out the seams of gold running across the ceilings.

In the moody Santini Bar, Manhattan comes to Murray Street by way of smoky Negronis or essential Martinis, and the soigné Santini Grill – WAGFG’s Restaurant of the Year in 2019 – is always packed, year-round. Factor in service that is always fresh and friendly, rose-gold sunsets over the CBD from the rooftop bar, and you have yourself a glossy, gilded getaway. Looking for beige and boring? Best to book somewhere else.

Need to Knows

  • 184 Rooms (QT Twin, QT King, QT Deluxe Twin, QT Deluxe King, QT Executive King, QT Luxe King, QT Accessible King).
  • Check-in: 2pm; Check-out: 11am.
  • Rooms feature Kevin Murphy amenities, Dyson hairdryers, Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speakers and bespoke QT Dream Beds.

What’s There

QT is famous for its minibars, which have the soul of a cinema snack bar. So, you can stay in and go hard on Smith’s chips, Violet Crumbles, biscuits from Byron Bay Cookie Company, StrangeLove sodas or Yering Station chardonnay. There’s a compact but well-stacked gym featuring Technogym equipment on-site, and you can ring reception for a yoga mat to be brought to your room. The four meeting rooms (named after films that once played at the old cinema where QT Perth now sits) are fully flexible, and you can even book a tasting menu from Santini Grill to be delivered to the Juggernaut room for a completely private group dinner.

What’s Around

You don’t get much more central than this. Kings Park is a short walk away, as are the restaurants and bars of Elizabeth Quay. You’re also minutes away from the ferry stop which can whisk you over to Perth Zoo.

What’s Super Special

A couple looking for a bit of romantic seclusion? You’ll want room 915 with its tucked-away corner position and tranquil emerald green and royal purple colour palette. Or, for a polar opposite experience, grab a bunch of mates and book out an entire floor as part of the ‘Floor’d’ package. A long table will be set up in the hallway for feasting, and everyone can retire to their adjoining rooms when the party’s over.

Children

Twelve rooms in total can be joined – twins containing two king singles, QT King and QT Deluxe rooms – turning them into family-friendly retreats.

Breakfast

Forget dull buffets, the à la carte breakfast served at Santini Grill is epic. Think along the lines of braised mushrooms and haloumi on toast or baked eggs with chorizo and feta, along with cold-press juice and barista-brewed coffee.

Eating and Drinking

There are four on-site dining options: Santini Bar, Santini Grill, QT Café and Rooftop at QT.

Hot tip: the theatre of Santini Grill’s squid ink risotto – finished with flourish at the table – is a show-stopping Instagram moment, as is clinking cocktails from the Rooftop at QT, the city’s highest rooftop bar. If you’re staying in, the room service fried chicken and Champagne pack is outrageously decadent.

Things to Book

The hugely popular Pig & Pinot Fridays at Santini Grill score you a cracking serve of Sicilian-style suckling pig paired with a generous pour of pinot noir for $79. Advance bookings are advised.

Notes

Pup parents, represent. Dogs are welcome at QT as long as they weigh 20 kilograms or less. And yes, they even get their own dedicated food menu.
